LEVEL 1 Passive Raccoon Deterrent System Initiated

And persistent. It took me about a week with the electric fence to get it exactly right, even after the coons got shocked more than once. Once I got it perfected, and they could not find any way in without getting zapped, they finally stopped getting in, BUT even now, they still check it out to see if there is a vulnerability.

XD

That might be kind of fun to see one of them get zapped. Like watching Justified almost, where the critters are almost begging for it.

I think a zapped raccoon does not return, but there are plenty of his brothers and sisters that still want to try for them selves.
Yes, a zapped raccoon will return. With some of them, it takes a couple trys, before they realize it's going to zap them every time. It's sort of like shock collar training, not a stun gun. I have an opossum that comes nightly to check if the fence is on. It knows not to touch, but it still checks.

Quail: 1 Raccoons: 0

Found some claw marks on one of my legs today. I turned the trailcam off yesterday while I was installing my auto watering system and forgot to turn it back on so no video.

I suppose there's other things you could try to trap the raccoon also. The hollow log trap, or some kind of bait and shock device. It sounds interesting to think about.

Yeah I plan on setting up some Duke foot traps. But I didn't want to put them out until the Raccoons were back and a problem. Basically I didn't want to attract them to my quail. Looks like they're probably back now, could've been an opossum though. Once I get a few on camera I will put them out...

Thought about getting a blink security camera and put it out there but not sure my wifi is strong enough. Then it'll text me a video when he's out there and I'll go shoot him.
