Man can she cover bunches of eggs. First I want to say, this is our 3rd broody this year - which we are completely fine with. The other 2 were a silkie and an Australorp. They made fine broodies. The Australorp set on 12 chicken eggs (I think it was the max she could have) and hatched 8. The silkie hatched 11 of 12 medium sized (bantam eggs - polish bantams seem bigger than others). Now this blue Cochin (her name is jelly bean) is sitting very easily on 14 muscovy duck eggs (which are huge compared to chicken eggs), I am guessing she could sit on 6 more without a problem. I would also guess she could sit on 24 large chicken eggs without issue. Talk about a hatching "machine".
