My bator just got here. The instructions say to have a temp of 99.5. I am assuming that this is taken at the top of the eggs. But isn't 99.5 low for a STILL AIR bator? I a thinking 1005 or 101 would be better taken at the top of the eggs.

101 is what you want in a still air bator, i have a LG still and a LG forced air also. take the dirctions and toss them in trash. this i what you need to do, temp 101, humidty days 1-18 (30-40%) after morning turn on the 18th day stop turning eggs and bring the humidty up to 50-55% the last three days, and last three days DO NOT OPEN THE BATOR UNTILL ALL CHICKS HAVE HATCHED ( do not mean to yell but that is where a lot of people mess up) it could take up to 23 days for the to hatch. you need to candle on day 7 and day 14 or day 18 if you have alto turner. my last to batches have been 100% hatches doing it this way, but for some people say they do it other ways but this is how it wworks for me, if you need help just pm me or e-mail me, if you pm me i will give you my phone number and you can call if you have ? william

Thanks, William. My last bator was a forced air LG and I did pretty well with it. I have 20 barred rock and 2 dozen RIR eggs on the way. Fiddeling with temp now.

you can turn that still air into a forced air for about six $, just get a small pc fan and put it in it. I like the LG's alot of people do not

I am considering a LG fan but it won't get here before the eggs do.

I'm gonna add to the LG questions......

I'm currently on day13 of my first try at incubating. I am using a LG still air.

When do I (or do I even) remove the red vent hole plugs? Theres no reference to that in the instructions..

You take one out to start and the second at day 18.
