LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

I'm a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and also volunteer for LGBTQIA+ people that need to flee a country where it's really dangerous...

It's sad to see they spread like wildfire... (the amount of places where LGBTQIA+ people are not safe)

What helps me is seeing my LGBTQIA+ ducks. It always makes me giggle. They are so nonchalant about it. Especially in puberty they have no issue with being sexually attracted to the same gender, and I also have had some bunch of ducks that we would call intersex/trans/gay/lesbian and it gives me hope. If they can't care surely we can some day.
Welcome to the thread @Loopeend!

@fluffycrow

Your favorite "Alien" plant ❤️ (Monanthes polyphylla) is done flowering and is doing extremely well! 😁

Those look like you're growing a bowl of little green pinecones. Like a Grand Fir:

I've never heard of or seen those before. Thanks for sharing; they're very neat! I wouldn't mind growing some pinecones especially ones that don't need too much light! That's fun!

Yes my little pot of Monanthes don't need much light at all. A northern window sill suits them just fine!

But you can grow "pine cone cacti". These look just like pine cones!

Ya, those look just like pineones. Holy cow your cacti are neat! 🤩 Did you get your new grow light(s)? I've heard a lot of people say good things about them since you mentioned them.

And I like your rocks. NM has the best rocks. Those are really pretty in there. I've been top-dressing my plants with chicken grit. It works, but it doesn't have quite the same effect. :lol:

Yes I got them set up last Monday! I am noticing better growth already in a few of the plants! I had my plants under Florescents which aren't full spectrum light and they get hot. I'm using good quality LED now, I'm glad I invested in new lights!

Wow, that's awesome! I'm hoping I can get something set up before winter. Probably just a basic shelf with grow lights I can put them on and get them out of the cold window if I can.

I have some house plants I think that I'm giving one more chance (like my Anthurium) and if they don't like it here, they're getting chucked, lol. I can use the space to grow happier things, haha.

The chicken grit seemed to work well, just heavy! So only little pots. :lol:

If you have smaller plants you can put on shelves, grow lights can make a huge difference. I recently purchased the Spider Farmer SF300 and some Barrina 24 watt T8 lights, all LED. These brands make full spectrum lighting and the plants get nearly as much proper light as the sun would provide. If you don't put your plants outside, I highly recommend grow lights. Get good quality lights if you are going to use them, cheap lights can be too low in lumens, burn your plants and have incorrect spectrum colors for good growth. Look around on Amazon, lots of lights there!

Yeah, I've watched a lot of people say they put their Jades outside and they love it (will even flower with some cold and drought conditions) but I am scared of getting bugs! I think I will get some bugs inside, too, so then maybe I will want to chuck them outside, haha. Hopefully I can propagate enough cuttings so I will have some extra and can experiment with some outdoors as well.

Thanks for all the plant and succulent support! Under my care, they will need it. 😆
