Hi everyone,

I noticed today that my top hen, the Queen Bee is isolating herself. She's eaten and had some treats and water but shes been staying in the same few spots all day, barely foraging. I'm redoing my coop now and cleaning, dusting to rid the bugs. I have been waiting for warmer weather to give baths. But, should I bring her in to stay tonight and clean her up? I don't want to leave her but I don't want to cause anymore stress. I tried some Vet RX so far.
Should she come in for the night and take a bath or just leave her be?
Thanks

How long have they had lice? Leaving them with lice can definitely kill them. Are you treating your other birds also? I wouldnt bring her in. You will be bringing the lice in with her. Treat her and the others, along with the coop right away.

Also, vetrx will do nothing for lice. It's like vicks. I would use permethrin spray and poultry dust. You'll have to treat every 7 days until they're gone. Depending on how bad the infestation is will depend on how much you'll have to treat.

Thanks. I don't know how long she had the lice. She molted a couple months ago and looks good. I treated everyone with permethrin dust tonight. She's acting very sleepy. The others are pissed and I only found a couple that were a little infested. Still. Have to get the spray and do the coop tomorrow. For now she's on her roost. I just hope she bounces back tomorrow. It's going to rain so it'll be hard to tell. My flock hates the rain.
