My Silkie just had a clutch of 5 sweet babies. Under all the stress she lost face feathers, and now has this white stuff on her face.

I'm afraid to take her away from her 10 day old babies (all the babies I just try treating for mites that were on them moving with poultry spray).

Though I see nothing moving on her...the other bigger chickens are loosing neck feathers but have no white stuff... See my picture any advice is greatly appreciated on how to handle all

Since this is an old thread, I'm not sure if the thread starter will reply to you or not.

Photos of what you are seeing is always helpful, but if your chicken's face/skin and comb look similar to the one in this thread (looks white(ish) dry and powdery), then it most likely has a fungal infection called Favus.

Treatment for Favus is apply an anti-fungal cream to the affected areas.

Look very closely at the pictures and I think you can see that the white stuff is on the feathers, not on the skin. I'm not sure why, but lice seem to really like the lay their eggs on the head and neck feathers of silkies.
