Lice or mites? Not sure

that could very well be why she stopped laying. we got a black copper maran for the son in law, she didn't lay at all. then we discovered lice. he treated her and within two days he's getting the prettiest dark brown eggs.....

checked my flock when i got home and had some lice too! i got the permethrin liquid, mixed up some in a spray bottle and sprayed all my girls down good. plan on repeating in a week, and then a week again. i've read the life cycle for lice is two weeks, but i have no idea when those lice eggs were layed so i'm not taking any chance! has anyone used the liquid or do most choose the powder?

i was afraid to give them any forewarning of things to come by using the 'shake and bake' method....

Gosh, I'm glad others are finding success with the pillowcase method - my silly birds kept slipping their heads out of my grasp and down into the pillowcase! I had to give up that method and just dust them by hand.

Although, that went pretty well. I put them on their back, on my legs, head up by my belly. They settled down after a moment, then I told them it was a "massage" and they enjoyed it, LOL.
