I picked up a new rooster about 2 weeks ago and he had lice. Atleast 1 so I'm sure more. I poultry dusted him last week with permitrin. And this week I sprayed him with a permithrin 10 mixed at the rate of 1.28 oz x 1 gallon like the instructions stated. How many more treatments do I need to do? I got under his wings and his vent and sprayed down his back and belly.

Have you cleaned out, sprayed your coop down with it and put in fresh litter and nesting material?
He is not in my coop or with my hens. He is in a cage about 2 feet away from my chicken run.
I did go ahead and poultry dust everything anyways.

Poultry lice egg hatch in a week's time so you'll need to do ay least two treatments two weeks apart.
When my birds had lice I did 3 treatments with a week in between each, just to make sure I got everything. They've been lice free ever since.

Thank you. I'll treat him again this coming weekend and that will be 3 treatments with permithrin. After this will it be safe to move him with the hens or should I keep him separate longer?
