Liege Fighters.

I have one! :D I ordered some rare hatching eggs potluck on ebay and Liege Fighter was one of the 9 eggs I got. It hatched and here we are 2 weeks old tomorrow! It's a tiny little thing and it's fluff looks like it was sort of trimmed. Mine is black with a brownish color on the head. I really can't imagine it's going to be 2-3' tall because this was one of my smaller chicks that hatched. He seemed a little weak too at hatch and I had to give him some extra calories and electrolytes for a few days. Now you'd never know though. His legs seem a bit longer for how big his body is. He/she's very sweet though, likes to be picked up and held, doesn't complain. Notices everything, a little "pecky" towards the others chicks at first, but I think it was just out of curiosity.

I’m soooooooo jealous.

Anyone raise this breed? Care to share some pictures? I’m dying to raise some and found someone near me who raises them. What do you feed them? Hows their temperament?
I just found this thread but I wished I had found it sooner. Mine are almost 3 months old now and easily the friendliest, most personable, and by far the coolest looking breed I’ve ever owned. And DEFINITELY the most intelligent. It’s almost like having a bunch of little parrots vs a bunch of poultry. I’ve worked with mine on a daily basis since they were chicks so they’re puppy dog tame and fly up on my shoulders and arms when I walk into the pen. They’re a very bold breed and don’t back down to anything but aren’t at all aggressive to other chickens so far. The largest stag is very defensive of me and the other leige though and he tries to chase off any other breed of chicken that comes too close. I can tell he’s going to be a great protector. As for feeding, I feed mine a higher protein chick grower/gamebird feed right now with lots of high protein treats. Most liege owners feed ground beef pretty regularly but I hunt and fish so I feed whatever meat scraps I have leftover in addition to their regular feed. They got nuts for it! I’ll post some pictures pretty soon.

I’d looove to see pictures I found someone within 30 minutes of me selling them and I am thinking about buying a pair off him. Have you hatched any of yours? I was wondering if they’re prone to any genetic disabilities. I don’t even own this breed yet but I love them. What % protein is your food? My TSC sells 18% 20% and 30% chick starters.

I’ve got some pictures but I’ll get better ones tomorrow. Mine are 3 months old so they aren’t breeding age yet but the first chance I get, you can bet on it! I will say that the entire line originated from Greenfire farms so every liege in the US is all related. This linebreeding is great if done properly and selected for good traits and culled bad ones, but people aren’t always selective about which individuals they breed from. I’ve heard that liege have a weakened immune system due to unregulated inbreeding but mine have been great and they’ve been exposed to 150+ other chickens on my farm. A few of mine did get coccidiosis but ANY breed can get that and they recovered fine as soon as I treated. I have been feeding a 24% gamebird starter from TSC along with a little cultured buttermilk mixed in (calcium, minerals, and probiotics) and an egg or two every few days. 20% I’m sure is fine supplemented with meat and bug treats every now and then. If you’ve got the opportunity to buy some, DO IT!! They’re amazing!! I can’t even describe how much I’ve enjoyed mine.
