Life from the Parsonage - A Journal of our Journey.

reading books....not really for pleasure...

.....school...
trying to remember things long since delegated to the far reaches of my memory....lots of cobwebs in there!
I have a hope....wonder if anyone else has every wanted to do something since they were little...and now, time has passed, and still...really, really, want to do it.
I want to take a missionary trip to two places....
India and Africa
We support our missionaries there, about a year ago recieved a letter from the orphanage there...cried for a week, seriously, cried.
Then the missionary from Africa sent out a letter yesterday. I don't know why, really I don't...it would not be a 'vacation'...I know where I'm going...not really the 'tourist' trap areas..and yet, I still want to go. My husband, who has been all over the world, just kinda looks at me... :| yup, not really jumping on that bandwagon

hmmm....I'm going to have to stir myself, set a goal, and work toward that...it will have to climb up the priority list...(like that's easy)

Set to leave in the van Friday night with the church folk, they will keep me hopping! Rolling Romeo has been a little out of sorts lately...it started with the announcement I laid on the choir at our meeting....

Choir robes will be worn for performances on Sunday morning...

He asked where his purse was...come to think of it...another feller said the same thing...and they were not present at the time the other one said it...

I have cracked the whip...I dearly love to sing...again, a foghorn would probally be an apt description....

Nevertheless, I am putting them to work! Work, and more work.
I have added a Thanksgiving Concert plus, the Christmas Concert...

I know...I just have so much time on my hands...
We have been treated royally around here this past month, we will tally the points for pastor appreciation at the upcoming rally...
they gave us a dinner in our honor and grocery poundings...etc...
They are such a blessing to us, I hope we are to them as well.
I am nearly chicken less. This is not a good thing. Am working to rectify that...we are not buying anymore chicks, eggs, chickens, until the coop is predator proof. I would be quite happy, thrilled in fact, to never find a blood trail again! :|
My husband, darling thoughtful man he is, asked me add a new program for him...which would require me to run it, upkeep, and log all new entries....

Hello! Who made me his secretary...oh,
ya.gif
I guess I did! He he he.... well, I did sign on the dotted line...oh, gosh there is such a funny story about the marriage certificate...he would NOT be happy for me to share it... he gets miffed at me all over again when my family retells the story...
bun.gif
Let's just say...I wanted to make sure we were really married!
What memories...he has decided to grow a goatee...actually, I have no clue how to spell that. And have no time to look it up today! A very precise and outlined beard around his chin and lips.... my verdict?

for now.

Just when I'm having one of those days that feels like I can't take any more - I run across a new post from you and I realize that I'm not the only one who feels overwhelmed. You always keep such a positive attitude, it helps me stop and remember mine. We truly are blessed and some days we seem to forget, thanks for helping us remember.

I'm pooped, tuckered out, plumb wore too a frazzle, in fact, I'm going to climb in bed.
Today has been a rather eventful day. I hesitate to even start.
The church is flooded, the lovely red waders my hubby bought me came in handy...I splashed from the parsonage to the church all day....he has fallen asleep in the recliner...gotta go wake him up.
No church tonight, classes are going well, children are doing great in school, and it's still raining. I don't even know the total now, but we were soggy before Gustav came thru...now we are swimming, literally swimming...the swamp is edging closer to the side of my house...hmmm, and they say it supposed to rain through Friday!
Poor DH has worked all day to stem the inflow of water...it's kinda like putting your hands over a fire hydrant...just forces it's way in another way.
The parsonage thankfully sits on a block foundation a coupla feet off the ground. Though the sidewalks and driveways are now ponds.
Hope all ya'll are weathering the storms okay. The wind is starting to ease a little. Hopefully, that will help.
Goodnight,
P.S. Had a lovely holiday! Got to be with my family...and had a just a wonderful visit....even got to claim the trip as a school field trip! I have a paper due on a civil war battle (which doesn't interest me) but I found myself able to prowl around with my camera knowing the Clothesline fair took place at the Battlegrounds! Yippee! Bought a few things too!

So, Gwen, did you survive the water? Our rain guage said a total of 8 inches in three days. Had to teach the chickens to swim. By the way, when you get ready for chickens, let me know. I have accumulated quite an assortment and way too many to keep, trying to get a mix. If you're interested, I have a few too many brown egg layers right now that could use a place to go. Gotta make room for green and blue egg layers (I sure hope they're pullets, not roosters).

Oh, our dear Gwen, you go through so many trials now don't you?

I wanted to bring a smile to your face today....we have a parson on our farm you can see him/her below:

Now isn't his collar quite nice looking?

Oh my, that is something!! May I forward that picture to the priest from my church? He's always joking about putting a white collar on his black lab and calling her his deacon! His wife wants chickens but he's resisting. Took her a year to talk him into the sheep.

That is one cute duck!
Very dignified!

Our rainfall total was only around 7 inches...the problem was...the straightline winds...and the 'abnormal' direction they were blowing.
It was hitting the side of the church, causing a geyser to shoot about 7 or 8 feet straight up in the air, and this was nonstop for 2 1/2 days! That geyser was coming up under the eaves, and pouring down the walls.
The adjuster came Saturday...he said, "well, I'll turn in my report, and we'll just see what the 'boss' will do."
We have not heard yet. YUCK! :|
We had church Sunday, the carpet still had a 'scent' to it...but wasn't as bad as it had been.
My doctor's appointment was yesterday, encountered a new problem, he put me on some meds...am going back in 2 weeks, and feeling concern now. But,.... I know all will be well. My in-laws surprised us by coming to the doctors office, they babysat the children so that the Rev. could go back with me. My daughter asked why I wanted 'Daddy' back there with me, and I said, "Well, sometimes it's a little scary when you go back there," my son immediately spoke up and stated, "Yeah, sometimes they give you shots!"

Aren't they adorable!
School is going well, right now I have a 100% in my classes.... course I've only taken 3 quizzes in each class....wondering about the tests.... :|

Got the childrens pictures back, we are so blessed! They are truly a beautiful an charming children to have!
Well, lunch break is over...

Thanks! I sent it and got the response that his dog's food is made from duck. Not sure what to make of that, but I'm assuming he's not looking to add any collared ducks to his household at the moment!
