Life from the Parsonage - A Journal of our Journey.

My son is HOME!
Thank you for the prayers and good well wishes, am so tired, just wanted to send this update to everyone. Will give details when I've had a chance to sleep. He's still sick, still has problems, but God is good.
Thank you again.

Thanks again for all the prayers. My son & daughter (I caught it Tues.) had been ill since Monday night. Had them at the doctor on Wednesday, she gave them anitbiotics....my daughters worked, my son's didn't. He became worse and worse until Friday we rushed him to the ER (it was Good Friday, all doc.'s were closed) he had a pinhole for an airway, they worked and worked on him. They were fixing to do a trach and get him stablized then lifeflight to childrens. God came on the scene, and he began to open those airways for my son. He was so bad the first night. Wheezing, gasping...I was so scared....the church people were so good to us...but I wanted my momma! The doctors came and talked to us, and told us twice he was serious....I knew this. He stayed in ICU till Saturday evening, was better but still being watched closely. They told me the next night could be worse, despite the large amounts of antibiotics he had already been given, and steriods. He was on oxygen, had a tent, IV, just all kinds of things, then Monday they evaluated him...and said he could go home, follow up with a doctor in 3 days....medicines, breathing treatments....and we came HOME! He is still very congested, weak, and just doesn't feel good....his appetite has improved...which is good cause he didn't eat anything for days...
I just wanted to update everyone. We are installing woodfloors in the parsonage these next coupla days...we've already got the carpet ripped up and working on those 'precious' tack strips!
My husband had to go to town...and I'm taking my break in here.....lol.

Chicks are doing well, they are outside in a brooder he built, with a heat lamp and covered at night...
eggs....well they didn't get turned, or watched...so I just don't know. DH said he looked at the temps a coupla times when he would come home from the hospital...and they were holding steady...course that's all I did was just glance at the temps and add a little water. I hope I haven't injured or killed those little chicks...

I have banty eggs being shipped to me from silkieluvr....they are banty barred rocks...should be beautiful...I'm going to have to rotate my bator's...but it should work just perfect...
Well, got lots and lot's too do and only two arms...
Somehow housework piled up and I was only gone 4 days!
hmmmm

I hope eveyone had a lovely Easter. Our's was good, my son was better.
While I didn't have a fabulous Easter dinner....
The hospital served Meatloaf with Ketsup over the potatoes...oh and a cake. Yellow with an icing I didn't recognize. It wasn't bad...just ok.
My son woke up and started crying (I didn't realize he knew that Sunday was Easter) saying he wanted to 'see' Easter....I was looking out the window.
Daddy and sissy brought Easter baskets with eggs and toys to the hospital that morning...took Easter pictures there....then went on to church.
I had went home Sat....(when I posted here) got her clothes ready for the Easter Choir Concert (she did great and I had a woman fill in as director for me) Her Daddy said she was the star!

Also laid out their Easter clothes...it was a little sad. Mommy was trying to be big, and I truly was grateful for my childs improved health...but he was so sad.

The hospital workers were really great...they brought him toys, eggs, one had made a football game from tongue depressers....(don't ask..apparently bored) he loved it!
Two nurses came in to give him money...they tried to keep him from crying when they would wake him up to check his vitals...I have only good things to say. They helped make an awful time easier.
It was cold here, but my husband reported that it was dry enough to hunt eggs....several little ones (including my little girl) hunted those elusive eggs.
Woops....DH is back...gotta go!

Eggs arrived this morning from Silkieluvr...GREAT Job on the packing!
12 eggs awaiting their placement in the incubator...they are resting...(it seems like I should say that in a whisper...lol)

Chicks are doing well, they have been outside, with a tarp and heat lamp at night for 48 hours now! They are growing by leaps and bounds!

My son is some better, has an appointment at Childrens hospital next month...the doctor also wants him to see an allergist. He did not recommend this area for children suffering with allergies and asthma... of course I knew this....my car has been green for over a week now...(it's normally Razorback Red! Go Hogs Go!!)

Well I could say alot...the doctor also said the poison which the cropdusters are dropping right now causes severe reactions...hmmm
all day yesterday, and I mean all day yesterday....(they were still doing flyovers while we were trying to have church) they circled the fields around the parsonage.

Thank you NCcountrygirl...

My life is really spinning now. This morning, while I had my son at the Doc., we got a phone call from a church member and their brother had died...we had been visiting with him. My husband is to perform the funeral service...waiting for visitation hours....
My husbands mother called about 20 minutes ago, and my husbands aunt (she has been at deaths door for about a month now) has died. His family is enroute to my house. (The aunt lived about 40 minutes away) And I'm thinking....housework....hadn't got it like I liked because of hospital time, and the furniture piled in the dining room and kitchen....from putting in the new floors

We are almost done with the LR, he's got to put trim back up and the hall is nearly there...

I have eggs hatching! Ever hear of "don't count your chickens before they hatch?"....wonder if you can count them while they are hatching?
There are 18 in this incubator.....
fl.gif

Candled eggs from silkieluvr last night....well just 3 and 2 definitely show fertility...unsure about that 3 still a little early to tell...will candle all 12 eggs on day 14. (These are in bator # 2)(With eggs from mom...will move mom's eggs to bator #1 for day 18)

The funerals were both Saturday... one at 10:00 and one at 2:00...it was a really long day. Saturday morning another woman (she used to attend church here) passed away. Her visitation was last night. I did not go. Thought that was too much death for the children to see...it was too much for ME!! Her funeral is today...but it's a long way off, so we are not going...
I've baked till my house has needed AC for days...my son who loves cake...has been on cloud nine!

Will take pictures of the hatching... they are supposed to be RIR's and a mix I can't remember.
Just hoping for females and healthy!

Here are a coupla pictures of my new chickens. They are a dominique and Rhode Island Red mix. There are also eggs from a, the farmer called it "hybrid leghorn",...anyone know what that is?

The Egg by the blue wiggler is the egg I dripped candlewax on. The chick has hatched, it seems to have a hernia...we will see. This chick seems to have healed. No sign of any problems. It is the tiniest...white with little black polka dots on her....hmmmm wonder what I'll name her!
