6 cups peeled and cubed carrots (3 lbs)
2 cups peeled and cubed rutabaga's (2 lbs)
3 - 4 lbs of hamburger
24 cups peeled and cubed potatoes (10 lbs)
2 cups diced onions
4 packages of onion soup mix
2 tbls salt
2 tbls pepper
2 tbls lawrys seasoning salt
2 tbls granulated garlic powder
mix all ingrediants well
Crust
4 cups flour
1 cup shorting
1 egg
1 tbls vinegar
1 teas salt
stir together dry ingredants set aside
in a 12 oz or larger measuring cup put egg and vinegar (stir together) then add water to the 12 oz mark
mix with dry ingredants until crust texture then form a round shape with dough and cut into 12 equal pieces. Each piece is rolled into a round crust. Put about a cup (give or take) of filling on one half of the crust and fold the top over then roll the edge so that it looks nice (kind of like ya do on a pie crust) Put on a cookie sheep with parchment paper on it and when sheet is full bake at 375 for the 45 min give or take.
I always brush the top of the crust with canned milk just before I put them in the oven for a nice brown top.
Depending on the size you make these this makes about 40 or 45 give or take.
We sell them for $3 a peice as they are pretty good size. You can eat them with ketchup or BBQ or nothing.
keep some in the freezer for rainy days or days that get away from you and you need a quick meal.
If ya make these for fund raisers than I wouldn't share the recipe with too many people.
Thanks Zookeeper, they sound wonderful. I can't wait to give them a try, one small problem though I'm having a terrible time finding a "cookie sheep" to bake them on

Put on a cookie sheep
And here I thought everyone had a cookie sheep in their cupboards LOL. Sorry read that over at least 12 times as I am on pain meds after the shoulder surgery I just had last Thursday. Do you think I can blame it on the meds LOL.
They are really good, and are so nice to have in the freezer for those days that you yard work or on the days you mess with fire wood. Or on those days ya just don't feel good and still want a healthy good meal for the family. They are just a pop and go meal when you have them in the freezer.
For a fund raiser if nobody has had these before then ya might want to make a batch and have the ladies and gents that will be pre selling them try them first. If they try them they will have a better chance of selling them as they will know what they are talking about.
Glad to share with all 18,000 plus as I am sure they are not going to be selling in my area LOL and even if they are I go by the rule that there is room for all.
I'm so wonky at times I don't even have to be on meds to be using a cookie sheep
. Doctor put on some meds for anxiety over the summer I just tell my family when I get a 'lil' wonky on remembering and such, I'm probably hopped up on roach killer - who knows what companies put in our meds?

Jean, look at all the chocolate chip cookies that every one of us can make and they still sell at bake sales or whatever. Folks prefer someone else do the work for them and it makes it oh, so much easier so they still sell !!
Thank you for sharing. I'm going to try those! What a good idea for the 'rainy' day around here!
The Rev. is deer hunting again this morning...he's a little put out, he hasn't even seen one
Been busy trying to catch up on everything after the revival...it closed last week-end....good, but a little tired.
I'm not even going to type in the upcoming month's plans...this one has been crazy...and next month?
I figure this is a good place to do a little 'braggin'...
My little girl entered a talent contest... she sang.. and boy did she lay it on thick...she got a standing ovation...(no, I didn't start it...
)
She has been thrilled...those things make me nervous... we go to state in January....
It's hard to act calm when inside .....
Yes, we shook hands and bragged on all the rest of them...but Momma was beaming... come to think of it...the Rev. was shimmering himself!
Our son was set to enter the speaking category...they had dropped it this year...but it didn't matter....he said..."there's too many peoples here". She went ahead and spoke her piece too...
Bubbie sang an quoted his poem for the church folk in the van...we were packed to the limit! They all wanted to see their "little Sis" perform.
Well, I think I told you she has the voice of an angel....
I'm quite certain it comes from me...
Oh my....
lots to do... this is my last free Saturday till after New Years.
And my last free Friday night, Thursdays...
I've got to get off here. Working on the Christmas Concert music for the choir.
I forgot to add---my little puppy girl dog is going to have puppies next week...
"long story"...but they are full blood yorkies... and the little pup we kept from her last litter (the silver one) is just stunning....so trying to make the best of it...
