Life goes on....UPDATE MY QUAIL ARE HATCHING!!!

I'm still kind of bummed about loosing my tuxedo quail. BUT...I just set 39 eggs in the hatcher and 44 in the bator. My gooooood friend Lisa who gave me the first set of eggs gave me the second set.

I still have the 2 I brought at the swap this weekend too. Soon I'll have little quail running all over the place.

Yes, I understand about losing birds and having the back up eggs to watch. Somedays its overwhelming and the off days it wonderful!

Sorry for sounding like duhhh.. but what is the difference between a bator and a hatcher?

I use my cabinet incubator as both... and theres also staggered hatches in it at the same time as well. I heard someone say they use a separate incubator as a hatcher to keep mess in the incubator to a minimum. It also has to do with humidity. Those of us using the small, styrofoam bators can run continuous hatching by having the second bator (the hatcher) much higher in humidity while leaving the first incubator at the lower humidity for those eggs that still need to stay in the egg turners. Hope that makes sense. I only have the one incubator so I incubate and hatch in the same bator.

This works so as soon as I moved my eggs that were ready to hatch to the hatcher with the higher humidity, I could put the new eggs in the incubator.
