Well, I've avoided this hobby with my first two children, but guess I didn't get that lucky with the third. My wife and 13yr old have been on me about getting chickens and when I started asking questions locally, found a free entry fee into it. We adopted 5 chickens that are approximately two yrs old. An Easter, Cinnamon and Rhode Island we are being told that some sweet little girls no longer had an interest in.

Had a quail coop, built from years ago no longer being used and am in the process of incorporating the small nesting container / shack that was given to us.

Glad you could join the flock! It seems you have been talked into the chicken world!! I'm sure you will enjoy it very much along with your family. You may just surprise yourself and find you like the chickens more than anyone else in the family, lol. It really is a fun hobby, chickens are very interesting. Learn as much as you can about them. I found this BBC story about them very good, especially as a new chicken keeper, check it out:
