Life or Death Lockdown Question!!!

i have a question about this too..

a few of my lil guys & girls are pipping as we speak. i noticed one hasn't made any progress in the last 5 hours or so and i'm beginning to worry because i opened the bator to add water, and then again to add a wet paper towel since i'm having a hard time keeping the humidity where i want it. is there a possibility i could've shrink-wrapped my lil guy? if so, should i just count it as a loss or go in & get him & try to help him out? this is my first hatch ever & i'm totally stressing.

help! and thanks in advance

For what it's worth.

My last hatch lasted four days. They started on Tues. but I didn't remove any chicks till the last minute. Meaning they can go for three days without food, so don't open the incubator until three days after the first chick hatches.

They finished on friday.

DO NOT OPEN THE INCUBATOR TO REMOVE CHICKS AS THEY HATCH!

If you have chicks that are almost out, then wait no matter what day it is. A pip or two ok ,but only if its' day three and you absolutely have to remove them. Then bring the humidity back up to near 65%. Never go above that. A little lower ok, but not above.

I would definitely NOT help the pipped chick at the 5 hour mark. It can take them 24 hours from this point on. They rest alot during the whole hatching process. This is also the time where they are absorbing the yolk. That chick is not likely ready to come out and you might kill it. AFter 24 hours if the chick is not peeping much, then you can consider helping. Can you add water without opening the bator? Use a syringe and inject through an opening perhaps? Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
