I've been wandering around the forum for a bit but was informed i was supposed to introduce myself, so here goes.

I used to raise all kinds of poultry when i was younger, had a big laying flock that we sold eggs from. I had a bunch of show birds, Muscovy ducks, silver spangled hamburgs, blue and black sumatras, white Chinese geese... and a dozen more i cannot remember. I had to take a bit of a break for several years. I still managed to hang onto a trio a sumatra mutts, and 4 guineas.

I'm in process of lining up my hatching egg sources for the chickens i intend to keep, breed and show. I've decided this time around to go with dual purpose chickens instead of just pretty birds. So I chose Rose comb rhode island reds, dominiques, buff orpingtons (likely get a few blue too), and araucanas. The last of which are going to me by novelty birds as i'd like to keep a blue/black/splash flock. There is a local person that i can get some turkey eggs from so i may try my hand at raising a few turkeys again. Heritage are supposed to be smarter then commercial, if thats the case they wont all end up in the freezer then haha.

Thanks
Sib

Heritage Exhibition quality of course! Is there any other way to go? Love that deep mahogany color. I'm sure a flock of buff, barred, red and blue birds will look great ranging on the farm too.
Thanks
