Hi All, my name is Debbie and I just recently got into chickens. I've wanted to have chickens for a long time but never got round to doing anything about it. Then a friend of mine was getting rid of her sons coop and I said I'd have it. Well that was 5 months ago and I've come a long way since then. I bought 4 ex battery hens and lavished them with love and attention, they are my little darlings. Then one of them went broody and someone I work with said she would give me some of her chooks fertile eggs to put under her, which I did. I also managed to get my hands on Araucana eggs (I've always loved the blue eggs) bought an incubator and put the blue eggs in there. All the chicks hatched that were under my hen, all black with white chests and wing tips, 2 chicks have hatched from my incubator, still waiting on 2 more to hatch and 2 didn't take. I'm having the time of my life and I hope my chickens are too, the kids and the dog are not thrilled though as they've had to take a back seat!
