I got my first chicken about 2 years ago. I built my own small coop for my side yard in Yorba Linda CA. We have 7 laying hens. 3 Black Australorp, 1 Buff Orpington, 2 White Leghorn, 1 Grey Cuckoo Maran.

I love having fresh eggs. Ive learned a ton about LIFE work kids just watching my simple chickens interactions. I’m a State Farm Insurance agent in Brea CA. I love the TED talk “Forget the Pecking Order at Work!” I love horses. I’m an empty nester w grown college age children. I believe in lifelong learning. I’m learning to ride western reining & cow sorting.

Now trying to hold on to my flock where in neighboring counties they are killing chickens because the the bird flu threat.

I think it is Virulent New Castle disease. Bird flu is much different form vND since it is nearly 100% fatal and survivors are carriers for life.

I hope it stays away from you!
