Light Brahma chick question

Hi, I have two light brahma babies. Both are 10 wks old. I've been reading that they mature slower than other breeds. They're both healthy, eating, drinking, pooping, everything a chicken is suppose to do. But they only weigh 6oz. I think they're perfect of course, not that I'm biased or anything. It's just hard to imagine that they're going to outgrow everyone else. Is 6oz normal at that age? The first pic is Annabelle. The second pic is Abigail. Abigail is smaller than everyone else, until this last week she was half the size of her sister and her feathers still don't lay flat. She has that tumbled in the dryer look.

I have some light brahmas that are almost 3 weeks old and they are huge. I just weighed them...the runt is 7 oz. and the big one os almost 10 oz. They are about half feathered so far. Maybe you have bantams?

I have two light brahmas that are 11 days old and they both weigh 2.9 oz

for comparsion my BO is the same age but weighs 3.6 oz and is a little farther along in the feather development.

I raise Standards ...so maybe yours are bantams?...

These are standards at 3 weeks and the checkered blocks are 6 inches tall from the seat of the chair cover ...

They've gotta be Bantams. My brahmas are more than twice their size at seven weeks old. They sure are cute!!

Well, if they are bantams, that's okay. Kind of sounds like it. Tomorrow I'm going to call the hatchery that the farm store I bought them from got them. Does that mean instead of 6 eggs for quiche, I'm going to need 24? lol. I wish there was a place that told you about the breed and the approx weights at different ages so a person can check and see if their chicks are on track with others of their kind? I'm wondering about my ameracauna too, she's 10 wks as well and weighs 8oz. She's the only one I have so I don't have anything to compare her with. The Buff Orps and Black Aust are already close to a lb, and the buffs are only 9 wks. Cute pics. Thanks for sharing.

Ah ha! I can eventually help you with that and maybe you can help us with it also. There are a few of us here on BYC that are putting together a Progressive Picture ID list of chicks that will show you exactly what you are asking about.

If you can take pictures every week using our rules you can submit them so we can use them to help others. You can see the rules and info using the link in my signature line.

If you can't do the pictures that's fine but we do need help from anyone that can.​

Okay, so I called both the farm store, and the hatchery, and both places told me that they didn't have any light brahma bantams with the order that I got my chicks from. So I'm thinking there was either a really big mix-up, and I just happened to get the only two bantams in the entire order (nobody else has mentioned their chicks being so small), or my girls are going to be really really really late bloomers. I'm feeding them what they told me to, is there something I'm missing?

Chirpy, I really like the Progressive Picture ID list of chicks. I'm not sure how much help I can be. I'm still getting used to my digital camera. If I do happen to get any good pictures, I'll send them along.
