As the title says, I have a chicken that I think naturally has blue eyes (picture 1). For a back story, she is a 1 year old Light Brahma hen from Cackle Hatchery (known for giving the vaccine for Marek’s). All her other coop mates have normal eye color and come from TSC, so they “should” be vaccinated for Marek’s. As far back as I can remember she has had blue eyes. Obviously chicks generally just have dark eyes until a few weeks, but I have a picture of her at almost 8 weeks, and her eyes are still dark compared to the other three Brahmas I got at the same time. Picture 2 is her at 8 weeks. Picture three is one of the others at same age. Sorry for the bad quality. I didn’t know I would need pics of their eyes a year later lol. The eye color is still visible though.
So, recap. Healthy year old Brahma with blue eyes since forever, has shown no signs of Marek’s save irregular eye color for the breed.
What are y’all’s thoughts? From what I’ve “tried” to look up, testing for Marek’s doesn’t work because the vac technically gives the chicken Marek’s disease in a safe form, and will always show positive, right?
Oh, btw, I’m new here!

I wasn’t even aware that blue eyes could be a marker for Mareks, but her eyes look really cool! I hope there is nothing wrong and she just has very unique eyes!

I was able to check, and yes, her eyes contract to light. I also noticed that her irises are darker closer to the pupil. It makes her eyes look more dilated.

If her eye color has always been blue, then it's just the color of her eyes.

Marek's eyes become gradually mishappened and discolored, sometimes turning Gray. Sometimes they become pinpointed, have a keyhole shape, etc. You can look up images of Marek's eyes on the internet, plenty of examples out there.

She has pretty eyes. If she's acting fine, then I wouldn't worry, just enjoy her.
