Yes, Lavender chickens often produce black chicks when you cross them to other breeds or other colors.

For sexing those chicks, you will probably be able to tell by combs & wattles when they are somewhere between 4 and 12 weeks old (depending on how fast they develop.) You can post pictures if you want other people to look and give opinions.

Of course any that start to crow are males.

Sometime between about 2 and 5 months old, the males will develop pointy feathers on their saddles (lower back, in front of the tail). Those saddle feathers will get long and hang down on both sides.

And eventually the females will start to lay eggs.
