So I ordered an array of chicks from McMurray hatchery, 4 of them being light Brahmas and they were the only feather footed chicks I got but I’m a bit confused by their coloring because they seem pretty dark compared to pictures I’ve seen of other light Brahma chicks. All help much appreciated :)

Do you still have the lid from the shipping box? I looked at mine weeks later, it tells you exactly who filled your order, and what they put in the box..edit..I say because if they made a substitution, it will tell you..also, if you didn’t save it, just call them, they’ll tell you..

I’m not sure what the Q next to it means but I assume the check means they didn’t have to sub them out

Yeah, me neither..I meant to call and ask, but, I ordered 15, very mixed, they said a bad hatch on cream Legbar, they subbed two Cuckoo Marans for the one, and mine were a day or two apart, I’m thinking maybe there’s a code there for which day was the actual hatch for each breed..I’ll find mine and photo too..well, I say 15 cause that was my original, I did receive 16, but..Buffy the Orpington didn’t make it..she did the weirdest decline at like 4,5, or 6 weeks. Edit..the very sweet lady at McMurray told me that the chicks are all hatching uniformly and being shipped out on Mondays, so the variation in age I perceived were probably just breed differences. My Whiting True Blues are still very much smaller than all the rest at 19-20 weeks..my Ameraucana just started laying, 5 beautiful, small blue eggs for five straight days! I didn’t think she’d lay today, but, she’s going in and out of a box like she wants too..I’ve been supplementing their organic dark leafy greens with organic paprika, tomato and beet powder, kelp, and whatever other dark greens I can get..also shredded carrots with the same powders..I’m starting to up the colorful supplements now that they are starting to lay, their basic diet is already making egg yolks as dark as the Vital Farms organic..I have some great articles bout all that..

Ok, I spoke w the same person I changed my order 50 times with, there’s no mystery about those codes..all the chicks hatch and are sent out on Mondays, those codes are bin or item locations within the hatchery floor to let the pickers know where to go to select chicks..

Ooh ok that makes sense I suppose :p the video definitely looks like the ones I got, super crazy how dark they can be and still end up white. Thank you so much for the help and calling about those codes.
