forced it down her throat. at first she became better. started being active again, was eating.
her poop became watery brown.
then gradually she stopped eating and drinking again,
and now she is so scrawny and wont eat.. i put her back on the antibiotics .

her current situation:

Please help! I dont know what is causing it..
The vet just gave me antibiotics and wasnt very professional, + there are no chicken expert vets around here :'/
also im putting 2-4 drops of this in her water/ organic rice milk

almost every day

If she got sick soon after eating the mint from the market, it may have been contaminated by E.coli, a common pathogen associated with animal waste fertilizers commonly used to grow produce. If you gave it to her without washing it thoroughly, that's likely the cause.

Of course it could be something else, but if the something else is also a pathogen, a broad spectrum antibiotic would take care of it even if you don't know the name of the germ.

Try giving her the drops directly without diluting them in her water. It would be more effective.

yes!! i did not wash the mint that day!
bingo
Thanks a lot
You have any recommendation on which antibiotic i should give?

Amoxicillin is a good all-around antibiotic that can handle most bacterial infections. I use 250mg and give the pill once a day. Or you can divide the dose in half and give it twice a day. Usually 10 days is the recommended treatment duration.

update:
she can barely poop now. Also she doesnt eat anything, just drinks a bit.
i gave her some raw egg and she liked it at first but now she doesnt.
so i guess this can mean she has impacted crop?

its now 3rd day of her taking amoxy, leon is extremely thin, can see his wing bones sticking out and he can barely wave them wings
:hit

then, later, i found these insects infesting all over my fridge!!! (except from inside where its cold. even there some managed to get it.
i did let him out a few times to run around in the apartment, since he was sick. but mostly where he nests, in his cage and around- 0 signs of insects.
these are bird mites, am i right?

no signs of mites on him though.

Some mites live in crack sand crevices and only come out to feed on the blood of the chicken at night, while other kinds do live on the chicken. Look carefully on the skin around the vent as that's were they mostly stay.

Don't assume you're looking at just one issue. If Leon's immune system is suffering, there could be several issues. It's best to address them in a logical order.

Feel the crop. Does it feel full and hard? Full and squishy? Do you detect an odor like sauerkraut coming from Leon's head? It's also possible Leon is constipated somewhere along the digestive track including the gizzard. Oil will help all of these. I use coconut oil in its solid state because it's easiest to just break off pieces and slip them into the beak. Get a teaspoon full down if you can, then massage the crop very gently in the middle avoiding the top part.

Yes! Thank you. he does have a weird smell similar to sauerkraut !
The crop feels like a mushy ball, i massage it and its not becoming empty, its kind of mushy, but maybe its because the crop is a thick organ even when deflated.. How do i know if its full or not? Should it feel like a totally deflated balloon?

If you smell the sour odor of sauerkraut, the crop has yeast in it. This saps the appetite and makes the chicken feel terrible. If left untreated, the chicken can starve to death.

You need to treat the crop with an anti-yeast medicine. Nystatin, Medistatin for birds, miconazole for women's vaginal yeast infections will all treat candida. The miconazole is easiest to obtain without a prescription, found in the women's hygiene products in the pharmacy. Give about a quarter to half inch of the cream orally twice a day for seven days.

Leon was euthanized today.. I sought advice from so many professional people and his problems just kept heaping. he had no muscle\fat at all; bones sticking out , and in pain. We couldnt afford gambling anymore with different drugs and surgeries, and decided to let the little guy go peacefully.

I cried so hard..:hit:hit:hit:hit:hit

Thank you leon for all the happiness you brought to our life..
