Hi all, these girls are 24 weeks and we got our first egg yesterday. I am new to chickens and I'm concerned there combs are light. They seem healthy otherwise but I've red they should be getting red combs. Any advise? I have checked for mites and such and they seem to be clear of that.

Pretty Easter Eggers! I have a gold one that looks just like the one in the picture, but she's a few weeks younger and not laying yet.

I've seen the combs get redder as they begin to lay. I would not worry about it at this point.

I've found that the comb color of a lying bird not always really bright and plump....
.....have had several girls laying well and perfectly healthy that had rather pale combs.

Thanks so much for the input.Just wanted to make sure as they seem good and we love them so much.My husband wasn't sure about getting chickens and now he loves it! I can get chicken math now. Lol
