Light in coop during winter months ??

I have a long florescent light in the coop, but it's for me, not the chickens! I also have two "night lights" that are for the chickens! We have bear problems so our coop has no windows, but tons of vents. It's pitch black when the sun goes down and I have two night lights on at all times so they can see. It helps them go in to roost and to know where the nests are in the early morning. When the power goes out they won't go in the coop to roost, they need these small lights. I'm in wonderful California so we had no power for 10 days in October. I would leave the coop door open until well after dark on the no power days, that helped a lot too. :idunno
