Ok reading a post in this section got me wondering. I am new to this and just built a brooder for the new chicks I am going to get. Question is do I run both a clear and a red light for them? I am leaving them in my garage and there is no light unless the door is open or I leave it on all the time. So question is do I run the white light during the day and the red at night or ?

Thanks!

im also new to this whole process but i run a clear 250 watt bulb the whole time and the ladies dont seem to mind. They are currently in the pump house where there is no light also. hope this helps.

I've had a clear light on 24/7 for the past few weeks and the chicks seem to sleep pretty regularly... up for a few hours and and asleep for a few... haha. I would like to know if there is more "quiet time" with a red light or not. Anyone know?

The red light is suppose to keep them from pecking at each other. So If your red light is your heat light and it is providing enough heat then run only one but if it is not then run both.
