I am getting two or three light Sussex in just over a week and I am researching like mad. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with this breed, anything I should look out for, issues or problems.

I am getting two 1 year old badly marked show quality hens so they should be right to start laying???

Feeling like I am getting in over my head, need to remember to breath!

Exacty what Tate said. Having bred Light Sussex for some years back home in Britain, imo, you would be better off saving your money & buying well marked exhibition quality birds of about 6 months, if poss.
I have not seen very many nice quality Sussex in US. It would be advisable to have done your homework & be able to recognise good Sussex type.

Hey, these two are to just go in my back yard as pets. As a breed I love the look of them and have been told they are good egg layers and quiet birds in general they are also larger as I like the larger chooks. Marking I am not so concerned about however i have been looking at pictures and do want to get nice looking ones so guess i will either pick what is friendly or try and pick the nicest looking of the bunch thanks guys

Oh also wanted to add I always freak out about chickens laying to early in Parrots breeding under about 18 months can really stuff up a hen
