Hi all,
I recently got 2 chicks from a breeder which were meant to be light sussex chicks (in a bunch of other breeds) and as the feathering started to come through (they are currently 4 weeks) on the wings the one looks perfect but the other looks mottled which isnt very typical of a light sussex. The breeder also carries stock of venda chickens (a local african breed) which are a mottled colour.
Is there a chance this could be a light or speckled sussex or something else?
The head, comb seem the same as the other LS but the wing feathering seems odd. A venda would likely have the mottle throughout though and the feathers coming through on her back and belly are white. I also can see the black feathering on her neck seems the same shape as her sister.
Thanks,
Appreciate the help.
LCL.
Ps the chicken will have a happy home here anyway with our mixed flock - I just like to be informed.
