Hi,
I have a 4x5 house. (5 chickens)
I now keep a light on 24/7. partly because my chickens are still young ( almost 7 weeks) and it hasnt been staying very warm going down to the low 60's at night.
I wonder if they are getting too much light. should I only use a night light or leave the 60 watt bulb in there? How often should I shut it off? I do lock them in at night....

I do have a cardboard box they go into but they don't do that much.

I will try to figure out how to post some pics of my coop and run, and see if you guys have any constructive criticism for me.

I don't have any windows but i used floor vents on the top and the bottom floor is screened lined with shavings..... hoping this will be adeqate ventilation but still keep it warm in winter...... thinking i will line bottom floor with hay in winter with shavings on top of that.

I have been throwing weeds and grass clippings along with other treats in their run. hoping something will grow eventually in there.......

There is 2 nesting boxes but for now to keep water clean i have put waterer up in one to keep it high. they alsohave water outside as well.... so they are all set up for food and h2o in and out.....
ideas? comments?

I LOVE the idea of those floor vents! Your coop looks a lot like how I envision my "chicken cabinet" except I plan 2 doors that open out, like a kitchen cupboard.

if the roof didnt slope in the back I would have doors, I have had a difficult time cleaning it out. I am also vertically challenged

I may change it, but have other thigns to work on too........
I would put doors if you can.
