I honestly do not know.
When I had a problem in the bottom of a bird aviary with a unknown fungus/mold I removed about 1" of soil / mulch and spread lime all over the floor then covered with 1/2" of fresh sand-soil. I then watered the area down for a hour. After that I sprayed a aviary cleaner over the sand and left for another hour.
haven't had any further problems with the chickens, turkeys, quail chicks that have been used to keep the aviary floor clean. Ive seen chickens scratching around in there so im going to say that even if its not safe its not that dangerous as long as they are not directly exposed to it.
(I been covered in quick lime at work many times and it does burn a little when you sweat, I wouldn't want to breath it in or get it in my eyes so make sure its soaked in and take care when sprinkling it around)
