Well it is now official, the chicks are ordered and will be arriving in the next two weeks. Two Silver Laced Wyandottes, two Black Australorps, four Speckled Sussex, and one Speckled Sussex Roo. The coop is built, but the run is not. i am very limited on supplies, and i'm hoping what i have will be OK.

i have two rolls of 3' high poultry netting 25 ft long, and one 3' roll of 1" mesh that is 24 ft long. and i really need some advice on what to do and if this will be alright for the type chickens i am getting. Now, i do plan on clipping one of their wings, so they will be off balance if they do try to fly over.

I just need any advice i can get, and all advice will be welcomed.

thanks Bryan and Pam

PS. Pics of the coop coming soon!!!!

For safety, us the one inch mesh on the bottom. Keeping predators out is an important first step. You could use the chicken wire for a top or as a screen on the ground to deter digging into the run.

With most chicken wire and its ilk, a dog can tear through it in minutes.

You get the most usable space with a square run.
