Until a recent discussion in one of my threads I had no idea that it was odd or old fashioned of me that I prefer paper records over computerized. What do you all use and why? I will probably never go back to computer records but its interesting to hear what everyone else has to say.

Also who else has limited or no internet and TV? My husband and I live in a holler and barely have any phone service or 4g. Even if we wanted internet it wouldn't be available where we live. We also choose not to have satellite TV because we feel its only used as a distraction when you could be spending time outside or doing chores. We do have some TV, about five local channels, three of which are the News and weather. Is this odd? Who else doesn't mind not having these luxuries?

I'd rather have paper record's also. People can hack into your stuff online, or even take over your account's. At least with having a paper record, you don't loose it.

We have satellite tv, but I'm not really into watching tv too much. There are a few thing's that I will watch, but for the most part (beside's the new's), I can take it or leave it.

I still have a home phone, and also a dumb phone (one that doesn't connect to the internet and doesn't text, or take picture's).

I'm in KY, too, and internet access is a major problem (as you know). I've had AT&T out twice to install their newly-available "fixed wireless internet": the first time, they accepted an online order but weren't actually ready to process the request at that time (!) and when the tech finally came out (after a lot of confusion on their part), he couldn't get strong enough signal and left. The second time, the signal also wasn't strong enough so it went nowhere (and they helpfully left part of the installed equipment on my roof). But we receive solicitations in the mail for this "great" new service nearly every week. :smackAT&T ticked me off so bad that I switched cell providers.

I have no interest in satellite cable or internet, so that's not much of a sacrifice. I do, however, find it aggravating that remote work options are very limited due to basically wifi-only (or satellite) options where I am. Oh, and cell service is very poor, too.

In any case, "farm animal tv" is on whenever I care to watch, with original content and fresh adventures daily! ;)

I don't have a TV, never have. I do subscribe to Netflix on my PC but I wouldn't blink at giving it up. I have had it for a few months and plan on unsubscribing once I have watched the TV shows I thought looked interesting.

I use paper records for most things but back them up on a computer if I think it would be helpful. Important documents go in a filing cabinet. I don't trust computers despite their safeguards.

As for the Internet, I find it useful and though I could easily go back to none, I would miss it. BYC takes up the bulk of my time on the computer. It has been invaluable for learning about chickens and communicating with other chicken lovers, er, obsessers, which are in short supply around me. I use E-mail too, for communication with friends and family; I find it nicer than using a phone, which costs quite a bit of money for a wired plan (poles are spottily located at best) and has terrible service for cellular connections. I can barely hold a conversation without it breaking up too much to hear.
