I have a 3 year old full size Cochin who is limping. It has been extremely dry and the girls hang out in the woods, so lots of sticks and pinecones. Her feet look similar as in they always look big and swollen, but she is a big chicken. The picture I posted is before washing and I thought it was bumblefoot. However after soaking and washing, I can find no black spot or wound, everything looks fine. It does feel a little warmer than her other foot. I put betadine on it and wrapped in in vet wrap which lasted all of 5 minutes. I will spray it with vetericyn once she is down for the night. I will try to get another pic tomorrow, but I have tortured her enough tonight.
Not seeing any obvious injury, should I continue to soak it daily? Do I just watch her for a few days? Should I soak it and put her in a dog crate to stay inactive for a day or two? She has been limping for 3 days, not getting worse or better. Advice?

Is that foot more swollen than the other? I am not positive, but I believe bumblefoot won't always cause a mark, but you will at least see swelling.

When mine was limping it was from a stress injury from flying from the roost straight to the ground. I know cochins are very feathered, but are there any spots or marks on her leg that suggest injury?

Hopefully this will work as a bump and someone who knows more will pick it up.

How is your hen today? I forgot to say the first time, but you can go ahead and try the crate for a day or so to see if resting it helps.
