Our cochin Gracie has been favoring one leg for about a week now and has a limp. She stands on one leg too. I took a look at her foot and found nothing wrong. What could be wrong and what can I do?

How old is she? Do you know if she was vaccinated for Marek's Disease? Even if she's injured her leg, you may not see any obvious signs of it. Many birds get leg injuries that aren't visible, but are definitely injuries. Bumping a hock on a roost, or jumping down too hard can cause leg injuries. I'd isolate her from other birds in a clean, well-bedded pen/area. Don't give her a roost, and put some vitamins in the water.

I think 22 weeks old. Sometimes she doesn't limp. I'm pretty sure she is vaccinated against Mareks. The roost she gets on is barely a foot off the coop floor. We do have a large dog kennel. Can she forage during the day?
