One of my boys has a lame leg, I just noticed him favoring it yesterday.

There doesn’t seem to be any sign of bumble foot or injury on the affected foot. The foot and leg itself is hot to the touch.

Aside from limping around he is himself; eating, drinking, preening and raising hell.

While mucking around in the yard he’s been resting on his belly instead of standing. It’s his left leg that’s sore, and at times he’s holding it up and close to his body like he’s resting.

Any idea what may have caused this and how to help my poor guy?

Hmm maybe he stepped on something sharp and you just can’t easily see the injury or maybe he sprained it slightly. Or maybe he injured it trying to mate. If he’s acting mostly normal other then the leg I wouldn’t worry too much just make sure you keep an eye on him and keep checking on the leg/foot. Sometimes my ducks legs just get kind of hot especially if it’s warm outside. I’d also keep an eye out to make sure he’s not getting picked on. Hope this helped and keep me updated :)

Ducks are so clumsy he probably pulled a muscle?..Keep an eye on it. If a pulled tendon or torn it won't heal quickly so a Vet will be needed.
You’re the second person today to say that ducks are clumsy. Guess he takes after his ma!

I’ve been checking on him often throughout today and yesterday, doesn’t seem better, but not worse either. Hoping it’s a slight sprain.

Thanks! It’s just him and our other male, and I’ve been keeping them relatively low key so he doesn’t exacerbate it more.

Do you have any meloxicam or Metacam for dogs? If so you could use some of that for pain and swelling.
