We have an Egyptian goose here that has been attacking my ducks. I shoo it away Everytime I see it but I worry because I cannot be here all day. One of my ducks is limping now and I worry she was injured trying to escape the goose. I searched the forums here and the only suggested cause is bumble foot but I checked for that first and there are no signs of it! What should I do? The free range on my beach which goes into a lake and she is swimming normally. But when she walks she limps so bad she sometimes has to put her wing down to balance her. I don't know what to do so any suggestions are wanted please!!!!

First, put the goose in timeout. Develop a plan, since the ducks depend on you for their safety.

Then, remember that ducks can get sprains and pulled muscles. Give the duck time in lukewarm water to float around. This is different than swimming outside. The warmer water can help with circulation, and ease muscle problems.

Make an Epsom salt solution, a couple tablespoons E.s. in half a cup of water, soak a clean rag and wrap that around the duck's leg for several minutes two or three times a day. Don't let the duck ingest the solution - it is a laxative.

I put a tiny dab of Traumeel last thing before they go in for the night on the leg. It is for treating sprains.

Thanks! Unfortunately the goose is not mine and although I have been hitting it and shooing it away it won't seem to leave for good! I took your advice and put the hurt one and a friend up in our fenced in area with a large pool to swim in and I will try the Epsom wrap! I'm very thankful for your advice!

Please let us know how it goes.

Yesterday I checked the feet and was positive there were no signs of bumble foot! I even compared with my other birds who are walking fine. But today I am noticing the signs of bumble foot appear in the same duck (lovingly nicknamed wobble) so I made sure to do the Epsom wrap in the morning and evening and they are looking a little better and she definitely seems to be walking on them better so hopefully if I continue the wraps it should clear up soon! Thanks for all your help!

I forgot to add that The only thing is that it is on both feet and just looks like one sore at the heel on both. I will try to get pictures tomorrow

She is worse today. But we had another goose attack so that could be a reason. I will try to upload pics now incase it could be bumble foot but bare with me I'm on mobile.

This is the left. Sorry for bad views. Everyone is very traumatized from the attack and she was not happy to be away from her flock for even a few minutes
