Hello! Just today I noticed one of our girls limping. It doesn’t look like bumble foot to me but then our experience with bumblefoot is limited to chickens. Could it be that she is injured or an illness?

When did she develop this limp, does the foot feel warm, could you post a picture of her foot pad, what is she being fed?

Has she had any problems in the past?

First time seeing this today. Everyone was normal yesterday. They’re not friendly birds so I hesitate to try and get a photo of what I assume is underneath her foot but I’ll try tomorrow to at least get a look to see if they match. She’s being fed the same feed as everyone, chickens included, H&H layer pellets. Same as the flock we got them from (they were all fine there, but we free range though they didn’t). She’s laying daily of that matters. She is the favored girl of both our drakes.

In the case that it's not bumblefoot.

You'll need to administer her lots of rest, B vitamins, and let her bathe in water frequently to relive the pain off her leg. Epsom salts can be added, just don't let her drink too much, as it will have a laxative effect on her.

Thank you. We’ll try to figure something out. There’s always lots of drama when we try to handle the ducks so I’m afraid that could make things worse if it’s a sprain. We’ll keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get more swollen.

Thanks to all for the help! She's back to normal today. Looks like it was just a very temporary injury that I was over-reacting to. They're not the pick-me-up-and-hug-me type of birds but we love them all the same so got a little over-cautious.
