Hello, I have just noticed my ISA vrown is limping. I have checked her over and no obvious injury except what seems like early bumblefoot on her feet. It's one a small black thing on each foot. Her comb is bright red but a little limp. She seems fine otherwise. But...I just noticed an egg has been laid on what looks like her roost. There is shell on the floor and like a membrane hanging over the roost. That is really weird. She was up in the laying box this morning but no egg. Please help I am lost! Thank you.

Here she is. I'm so worried.

I put her inside in a box...she is now roosting on it. Did a watery poop. Now dozing and waking up. her mouth is open
Can you take a look to see if she has a discharge that looks like egg yolk or whites?

Thank you so much for your rerep. She has done a few poops and they look ''normal" enough. I can't see any sign of yolk, egg white or shell. She is opening her mouth a lot. It is hot but it seems more than usual, also very sleepy. Ate watermelon but not too keen on water.

Feel her abdomen, any bloat or swelling?
When you say the membrane of the egg, were the contents gone?

The labored breathing is concerning.
You mention that it's hot? Do you mean your weather? Where are you located (country/state).

She likely has a hard time with a soft shell egg, which is very hard to pass. The contents may have spilled inside her, it's hard to know, but usually you will see a discharge from the vent that look like egg. She may still have part of the membrane inside her and is trying to pass that.

Try to get her hydrated. If she is not wanting to drink, but will take the watermelon, that would be o.k. fluids are important. I would also get some calcium into her. 1/2 tablet human Calcium like Caltrate or a TUMS will work.

I'm getting there! I was thinking the added calcium for soft shell, too.

Keep us posted! I hope she starts to feel better soon. She's a cutie!

It's hard to tell exactly what happened with the egg, I thought she didn't lay yesterday but noticed a few hours ago shell on the floor of the coop and something hanging over the roost, I'm guessing like the inside of an egg. There was "wet stuff" (egg contents) on the bottom of the stairs, where the egg obviously landed. I have a broody hen and the third is laying normally so it's possible she just had to pay before a spot was open up in the coop.
Yes I am concerned about her breathing...I'm in Australia so it's summer time. About 29 today (85 Fahrenheit)...but in the last 2 weeks we have had days of 41 (106 Fahrenheit) so its not super hot. She is sort of stretching her neck sort of like yawning a fair bit.
My husband did feel around earlier and we didnt notice anything. I'm pregnant so I don't want to get too close just in case :(
Could it just be the bumblefoot?
