Hello! So, we are new chicken owners with a small backyard flock, and haven't been able to find a posting that matches our rooster's symptoms. About two days ago, he started limping, but is still eating and drinking normally, acting basically the same, if a little more docile.
Then, today we noticed large black spots on the back of his comb that definitely weren't there yesterday. Not sure if they are scabs, and if the limping is the result of a fight with the larger rooster (who is going to a new home soon), but we haven’t seen much fighting between them and there's no visible cause for the limping.
We have been reading all about Marek's disease, pox, and other ailments that might cause some of the symptoms, but so far not sure if these apply? Once the spots appeared, we separated him from the rest of the flock...

Thank you for any advice!
