need advise. Noticed last night our Cochin rooster was limping. Hoped it would be better in the am but wasn’t. Still limps and will stand at times only on the good foot. He isn’t straying to far from the coop and is even spending more time under the coop laying low. His foot seems red and angry on one of his toes. Planned to crate him in the dog kennel in garage to heel up. I don’t know what it is or how to treat it. Any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated.
Thank you

Clean the foot/leg well and get some clear pics.

If limp is really bothering them by inhibiting their normal activities too much, I will isolate them in a crate to 'force' rest for a day or two. Letting them out late in day, an hour before roost time, to give them a stretch and evaluate their mobility, then decide if they need another day and put them back in crate off roost after dark. Repeat stretch and eval the next day until they are better. Keep crate in coop so bird can remain 'with' the flock.
