Spiral Breeding and limited lines

Hey all, old poster new username, although It’s been years since I’ve been on last. I’ve been a city slicker while back in school, but that’s going to change!
So, say I want to start a spiral breeding program and have access to 3 unrelated lines of the breed I want to work with. In my program I want to have 3 separate breeding pens, rotating the cocks to the next one each time I pair them for fertilized eggs.

Questions -
Do I want to start the 3 pairs out as unrelated as possible OR Do I want to start out the initial first generation in the same lines?
Am I overthinking it and as long as there are 3 lines in my spiral breeding program to add the diversity over many generations the pairings don’t matter much?

I'd say start with the unrelated lines.

Start with unrelated lines however if you have to chose between undesirable characteristic or low diversity I would get the go with the low diversity and just be careful about maintaining diversity.
