Things I am needing to know...

How many eggs should you put under a broody hen?

How long are the eggs good for before you put them under the hen?

Before the eggs get placed under the broody hen what should I be doing with the eggs?

Thanks in advance! I only have my babies nap time to research this so thanks for taking your time to show me the way!

Read this. It has a pretty good section on how to store eggs.

How many eggs should you put under a broody? There is a lot of personal preference involved. How many chicks do you want and things like that. Eggs and hens come in different sizes. A hen needs to be able to comfortably cover all the eggs. A bantam might have trouble covering four full-sized eggs. A large hen can cover a lot of small eggs.

I normally put a dozen eggs of the size the hen lays to a broody. I have seen hens cover and hatch several more, up to 18, but that’s pushing it. I find it better to keep her comfortable.

I am just giving her six. It is kind of a test. She has a broody hen but nothing for the hen to hatch and she doesn't want to bother her so I offered up fertile eggs. The links are great thanks!
