Lipizzan Stallions/ Spanish Riding School of Vienna, how Lucky am I!?

They came to Omak in June and my husband & I saw them. I felt sorry for the horses and all of them looked pretty sour/burnt out. I was disappointed in their overall performance & manuevers as well...two of my four horses can do most of those under saddle and one of them I've seen do some of the "aires above ground" when excited, LOL

I am going to the show on Sunday and we also have second row seats. I have never seen them before so this will be great!

I saw them many, many years ago in Nashville. The Walt Disney movie is "Miracle of the White Stallions".

You will love the show. I was really into Dressage when I went and loved every minute!!

Enjoy the show! They are wonderful. I have been lucky enough to see them two times. Once when we lived in Alabama, I had to drag my husband kicking and screaming. The second time was here in MN last year! I took my kids and they had a blast! Definitely take your camera, they do move kind of fast and our camera is kind of slow but here are two pictures the kids took.

Uh, I hate to burst any bubbles but the actual Lipizzaners from the Vienna Riding school are not on tour in the US right now. They were here a few years ago but not right now. I think you are probably going to see the "World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions" from Florida http://www.lipizzaner.com/home.asp . They were here in Colorado a couple of years ago and I did get a chance to see them, it was good, you will want a decent camera. Most of the horses looked good, a few seemed to need a break. One day I want to see the actual Vienna Riding school and a performance there, I wish they would come back to the US but it is so expensive, if I remember correctly the school declared bankruptcy a few years ago.

I guess thats why they were a bargain...

I will read the fine print next time...should I still be excited? We both thought it was the Spanish Riding School...

I was once at a Trans Siberian Orchestra Concert ( turns out to be an awesome band ), where the lippazzanners were supposed to perform the next day. We saw them getting out of the trailer, and the horses were awesome. I ride myself, and i wish i could do a 1/16 of the stuff those riders can do.

I had the great good fortune to live not far from the the farm in Florida until we moved 4 years ago. They hold weekly rehearsals and the gentleman in charge, an older man, came from the Spanish School. His accent was still very, very heavy, but it was obvious how he loved those horses! When we would ride past there, which we did regularly, we would see the foals out in the pasture, and the young horses being schooled in the rings. All the times I saw the schooling shows I was never disappointed. They are magnificent animals.

Enjoy.

edited to add that I am talking about the Herrmann Royal Lipizzan Stallions in Myakka City, Florida.
