List of egglaying factors

still nothing from my maran! i did do the 2 finger 3 finger thing on her (mimi) and two others who are the same age but dif breeds. faverolle and coucou de rennes. i know the other two are laying and they were def 3 fingers wide. mimi though is still two fingers wide. not sure if it is cause she is smaller than the other two or cause she is a late bloomer. still hoping to see some nice dark eggs from her before it gets cold and they all slack off. i have gotten some mega eggs from the other two though! i can narrow it down to the two of them but not sure who's laying them. they both lay the same color.

Hens that come into laying age (especially late blooming breeds like BCM's) around this time of year when their bodies go under stress any way, many times wont lay until early spring.

This is true and many are molting now here too so the eggs being layed are way down. I'm lucky right now to get 2 doz eggs from around 100 active layers.

still pretty warm here, low to mid 20's. up to 30 today and forecasted for the weekend. none of my girls are molting yet. my roo has been for the last month though! i heard about them holding off til spring when they come of age late autumn. i think i am just so impatient to see that super dark brown egg. at least my other girls are keeping me amused with mega eggs. they are as big as my palm! i know it's either my faverolle or my coucou de rennes, just not sure which though. thanks for all the advice, it helps.
