I/we bought a pair of black calls and a butterscotch male there last fall. We got there rather late but still had lots of different varieties left

This is the only swap I've been to ever, and only went once - last September. But if you consider this one "small," you've GOT to tell me about others you go to! I'm in the IL Quad Cities area and would love to attend other area swaps.

I made that comment about it being small because I was comparing it to what I hear about Waverly and Kankakee Swaps.

I was there in Sept. too. We sold our spitzhaubens, red sex links and some roosters there. There was a lot of stuff there that month. I like going in April, May, June and Sept. I too wish there was more swaps closer to the Quad Cities.

From what I have heard the spring swap at Waverly is much bigger then the fall. Of course spring brings in babies of everything.. I talk to Mothergoose and she said Kankakee is about 7 acres of people selling things compared to Waverly is about 3 to 4. We will be going to the June first swap at Kankakee this year. We will be driving up on Saturday and stay overnight. We havnt gotten the flyer yet for the actual dates for Waverly but I will post as soon as I get it!!! I cant wait. Jenn

I'd like to get a flock started. What and when are the closest swaps near Columbus Junction, Iowa? Any in the Quad City Area? Thanks so much.

I have 1 Bantam Chicken and 2 Ducks right now but want many more. LOL I want Bantams for sure and then some rare breeds.
Also have 3 cats, 3 dogs, 5 horses, and 2 turtles.

I know about some small swaps by aroura and Walker but none in your area. If you are not really choosy about the chickens you get there is Sunray hatchery in Hazelton. If you went to pick them up you would not have to get the minimum numbers. As far as the quail and pheasant there is a guy in Waverly that raises them but just so you know, if you have either one you will need to get a game breeders liscense from the DNR. If you do not have one you can be fined. If I remember it right it costs 15 a year and they can come and inspect your property. I have ducklings and will soon have goslings if you will be around Independence in a few weeks. Jenn

More info please. What are the hours of this swap? Where is it held in Burlington? I'd really like to go to this one as it is not too far away from me. Thanks:)

The hours for the Burlington Swap are 6am to noon. I'll be there. We are reducing our numbers of animals. We plan on bringing bunnies, started pullet chicks, hens, roosters. I plan on putting BYC on my sign. I'm selling these right now so what I have left will come to the swap. It is held at the college grounds. The address is Hwy 34 and 406 Gear Ave. West Burlington.
