P. S. Why hasn't this been made a sticky yet?

I think it would be a good one.

Done. This would be a valuable tool to help those in dire straits.

Every State has a State Vet along with Poultry Specialist.

I much prefer these folks and those in the Poultry Science Dept. at the Land Grant Univerisity to ANY private Vet.

True that. But sometimes when time is of the essence, having a vet right around the corner from you is necessary.

Mine lives just down the road from me and thanks to him being so close, he saved my dog's life a few years ago

So do I prefer private vets, oh yes!! Especially around my parts where he's the ONLY private vet around here.

North Carolina : Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Harnett, Johnston, Lee and
Wake counties.

This is a mobile unit vet, but they specialize in odd animals. I've talked to them and they'll take care of my chickens and ducks though it didn't look listed with their info.

Interesting. May I ask how one would go about finding out which university is a land grant university for one's state? And do you think they each have a Poultry Science Department? Are there any states that have more than one land grant university? (So mayhaps there'll be one within reasonable driving distance.)
Thanks.
