My runner ducks are a little over three weeks old and they are starting to make different noises. I was listening carefully tonight to see if I could figure out which ones are females and which ones are drakes. I guess I don't have an ear for it yet. It seemed like some of them had a lower noise..

They took a swim in the bathtub today (too cold outside here) and it was fun watching them zoom underneath the water. I love it after they dry off they are so soft and fluffy.... : ) After feeding them some spinach one of them curled up next to my hand and let me pet it for a while... it was making little noises like he liked it. I hope they stay pretty tame.

The quacking will become more obvious as they get older. It's good that you're paying attention now, because you'll learn pretty quickly which sounds will turn into quacks and which into murmurs. I'm sending you happy hen vibes.

When (if??) it warms up enough (how is it cold in August? Where are you anyway?? lol), it's fun to put them in a clear-sided tub, like a large rubbermaid thingy, full of water, and watch them zoom around--I love being able to see them under the water as well as above.

I live in Valdez, Alaska. It feels like fall here. Are temperature today is in the low 50s. They don't have all of their feathers yet.
