My 4 year old Isa Brown hen has a swollenn crop, poopy feathers at her rear end and is puffed up and not moving much. She's had the swollen crop for about 2 weeks now, although was still lively at that stage.

Can you please help?

So far we've tried massaging the crop and giving her some olive oil (each week), she's been eating the normal stuff she has; porridge, lettuce, vegie scraps and mixed poultry grain. Although her crop has been swollen for a couple of weeks, up until now she has seemed lively and normal in all other ways.

Her rear feathers are mucky with poop and I've noticed her butt looking like it's contracting all the time - her poop is quite runny. She's puffed up and staying by herself, quiet and not moving much.

I've also tried giving her a bowl of milk as that's what a book said to do and she likes it but is still quiet and not herself.

any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecaited

Does she access to some sort of grit? finely crushed rock, oyster shells, or even course sand works. Without grit, chickens cannot properly digest their food....
Sorry, that's my only suggestion and only thing that I can think of as to why her crop may be swollen.

Hope she gets better soon.

It sounds like impacted/sour crop. There is a progression of methods to fix the problem but I can't remember them in order. If you do a search here I'm sure you'll find it.
