Hi there, I have a Rhode Island Red rooster that has overnight gone very listless and lethargic. His attempts at crowing are pretty pathetic and he's not chasing his hens as usual although he walks around with them. He has frequent stops and looks like he is on a perch trying to sleep. He has no obvious injuries but he is not too interested in his food. Any feedback or ideas would be most welcome as I am a relative newcomer to the poultry scene.

You might want to put him by himself for a while. Give him some electrolytes in his water and keep and eye on him. If he keeps it up, take him to a vet that deals in farm animals or birds.

I managed to get him to drink some water and eat some natural yoghurt - he's on his perch now so I will check him first thing in the am. Thanks for your reply
