Hello,
Ok, the low down, if you have any ideas please let me know. One chicken in the flock isn't acting herself. She had her feathers all puffed out at one point, is kind of just keeping to herself and just, well, standing there. All the others are happily scratching about for food and moving around.
Some possible causes: Yesterday I drained the stagnating shoddy attempt at a ducks pond (with a dead mole in it)-- they all got excited and ate/drank through the mud as I did so... botulism?! But just one? Also, it has been raining all day off and on, but it is in the 50's-- they were fine all winter even during some hard frosts (roosting in trees)? She didn't look 'wet'. They all (9 chickens 4 ducks) forage during the day...
So, what do I look for and what are some home-remedies? I will be putting some Bragg's Raw Apple Cider Vinegar into all the waterers tomorrow morning with crushed garlic... Maybe also some cayenne.
Any tips appreciated.
Amber
